We are looking to hire a Support Independent Living (SIL) or Disability Support Worker. The individual should have a minimum of a year of experience. They must be experienced in providing personal care & community support to clients with mental health.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strengthen client’s capacity to manage and maintain their health and daily life needs
- Prompt client to carry out personal care tasks in a non-demanding way
- Support client in participating and engaging at home in daily tasks and in the community
- Carry out domestic duties for clients including meal preparation, household management, bed making, dusting, laundry, etc.
- Assist the client in accessing community activities such as shopping, recreation, and leisure, and enable them to stay connected
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1 year as a support worker with experience working in SIL house
- Must have experience providing personal care & community support to clients with mental health
- Must be tech-savvy
- Ability to learn new skills with the client
- Must have a positive attitude as well as a strong sense of accountability and confidentiality
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Australian citizen or has the Right to Work in Australia
- Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or above
- Cert IV in Mental Health (Highly regarded)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check
- First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
- Full Driving License and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred)
- Comprehensively insured car (preferred)
OTHER CERTIFICATIONS:
- Manual Handling Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Medication Certificate (highly desirable)
- Basic Food Handling Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Experience with Infection Control & Waste Management
- NDIS Orientation Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- NDIS COVID 19 Certificate (or willing to obtain)
